Round 4 was different by design. After three rounds of Festejo, Cynthia opened a round for alumni only — dancers from Rounds 1, 2 and 3 who were ready to go further — and taught the dance she feels most intimately connected to, the one that changed her own life: Tondero.
It also moved the map. Instead of El Carmen, the cohort travelled north to Lima and then Piura, into Morropón and the cajón piurano, learning from Cynthia's own Tondero mentors. The round went deep into personal and ancestral love stories, and left behind a phrase the cohort still repeats: la chicha de buena marca no necesita bandera.
Tondero has since been announced as the next public round.
