Round 6 ran the broadest curriculum the program has taught: Festejo, La Valentina, Zamacueca, Zapateo, Landó, Son de los Diablos and cajón. It was also the first round to open a virtual-only option, for dancers who wanted the training and the history without the travel.
In Peru the cohort toured the Museo Nacional Afroperuano in Lima — tracing how Afro-Peruvians shaped the country's food, music, dance and social movements — before heading to El Carmen for the Carnaval Negro and an invitation into La Yunza. "Nos invitaron a volver a nuestras raíces."
